Putting the light at a subject’s back can create some interesting highlights, particularly around their head. Those highlight angles can create appealing looks.
The depth of file is the most important quality of detail shots. It’s eliminate distraction and more to create an interesting and textured background for your isolated subject.
Visit the locations of the different places that you’ll be shooting before the big day. I find it really helpful to know where we’re going, have an idea of a few positions for shots and to know how the light might come into play.
The small things are what the family overseas were not able to see or maybe what couple’s daughter will look at for inspiration for her big day. And for me, that is enough to make them a priority.
Timing is everything in Candid shots so wait until they are distracted from you and fully focussed upon what they are doing or who they are with and you’ll inject a feeling into your shots of them being unaware and that the viewer of your image is looking on unseen.
I am not just capturing an 8 or 12hour event. I am telling a couple’s love story. This is one of my favorite things about being wedding photographers because I know that by becoming friends with my brides I will be able to tell each and every one of their wedding day stories in a unique way.
It’s important to understand where you are, who you are filming and the emotional state has the largest impact on the emotional quality of your photos.
Thanks so much for taking the time with me.
